Colorado mining camps and ranches in serious danger

Denver. Sept. 28. — Dispatches received here indicate that great fires are devastating the timber growth on the main range. From Han’s Peak on the north to Pagosa Springs on the south, a distance of hundreds of miles, the flames are doing their destructive work unchecked. The flames are known to be doing tremendous damage in Routt county, in Egira Park, along the Roaring Fork River and down in the San Juan region.

An estimate of the damage done is hard to make, but it will run into the millions. Human life may have already been sacrificed, and if the fires are not soon quenched by a heavy rain, many persons are certain to perish. Several mining camps and innumerable ranches are now in danger of destruction.
